Detailed Instructions on how to burn 90 Minute CD-Rs

Note: Even Nero sees them as regular 700MB until you over-burn them.

Here is an image of the disc information from Nero.

Yes, that really is a 90+ minute CD in there.

Let's set up Nero for the oversized disc.

Under FILE / Preferences

Select the GENERAL tab

In the Status Bar frame, where it reads RED MARKER make it 101 minutes 59 Seconds 74 Frames.

Now, Select the EXPERT FEATURES tab:

Place a check mark on the "Enable overburn 'disc at once'.

For the "Maximum CD Length", enter the same as you did for the RED MARKER: 101 Minutes 59 Seconds  74 Frames.

Click Apply.  Then OK.

Next compile your audio CD by dragging the files you want into the composition pane.

The only way to burn a 99 minute CD is by using Disc At Once (DAO).  For audio CD's, this will remove the 2 second gap between songs by default.  My mp3's had an extra 2 seconds of silence at the end of each of them.  Nero tried to insert an additional 2 seconds to compensate for DAO burning.  I had to manually right click on each track (except the 1st one) and chose Audio Properties and remove the silence.  You need the 2 seconds of silence at the start of the 1st track or CD players have a really hard time playing it.

Here's how to do it:

Under 'Pause' enter 0 seconds.  This will keep the original 2 seconds of silence in the mp3, and not cause Nero to insert another 2 seconds.  If I had not done that, I'd have 4 seconds of silence between songs, not 2.  You have to do that for all the songs with an exception for the 1st one.  Nero will give you an error if you screw it up on the 1st song.

Now, check your compilation.  It should not be longer than the time you entered for 'Maximum CD Length' on the Expert Tab.

Now insert your 99 minute CD-R.

Click the Burn Tab.  Enter your burning speed.  It is recommended that you write at 12X or lower.  Usually, lower is better.

Make sure Disc-at-once is selected.  Also put a check beside Finalize CD.

Select Write.

This window should pop up:

Select "Write Overburn CD".

Burning will now begin.

If all goes well, you will get a window like this one:

Look closely, you'll see that this whole burn took 26:52  at 4x.  You can see it to the right of the pop up window.  It's under 1/1.

Manually eject the disc.  Go put it in any standard music CD player.  It should work.  There should be 2 seconds of silence between songs too.

Here's what it's all about:

Note the time difference between what Nero said was 100 minutes & 48 seconds.  The CD plays fine in ANY music CD player.  BUT the last song cuts out when the burnable portion of the disc runs out.
